Qwen 3.6 Plus is now available on OpenRouter as a free limited-time preview

Alibaba just dropped another Qwen model on OpenRouter, shortly after Qwen 3.5 Omni. This one is text-only but packs a 1M token context window.

Alibaba’s Qwen 3.6 Plus landed on OpenRouter today as a free limited-time preview. It builds directly on Qwen 3.5-Plus with targeted improvements in its core areas.

  • Agentic coding: Better autonomous code-related tasks and tool use.
  • Front-end programming: Web and UI development workflows.
  • Reasoning: More stable performance on complex multi-step tasks.
  • Context window: 1 million tokens.

Worth clarifying upfront: despite early descriptions linking it to Qwen’s multimodal series, this model has no vision capabilities. It is text-only.

One thing to keep in mind: prompts and completions may be collected by Alibaba to improve the model. Standard for preview releases, but worth knowing before you feed it anything sensitive.

This is not a full Qwen 3.6 series launch. It is an early flagship preview, positioned as a more stable successor to 3.5-Plus for coding and reasoning tasks.

Community reaction on X has been a mix of enthusiasm and surprise at the pace. Shortly after we covered Qwen 3.5 Omni today, here is another one. Alibaba is not slowing down.
