Cursor 3 released with rebuilt agent-focused interface

Cursor 3 is out, bringing a rebuilt interface centered around agents and parallel task management.

Cursor 3 is out. The AI code editor rebuilt its interface from scratch, moving away from the VS Code-based layout toward a workspace designed around agents.

The centerpiece is the new Agents Window, accessible via Cmd+Shift+P. It consolidates all running agents into a single sidebar, whether they are local, cloud-based, or triggered from external surfaces like Slack, GitHub, or Linear.

Key additions in the new interface:

  • Parallel agents: Multiple agents run simultaneously across different repos, each in an isolated environment
  • Local and cloud handoff: Start a task in the cloud, pull it locally for edits, or push it back to keep it running while offline
  • Diffs view: Review, stage, commit, and manage PRs without leaving the window
  • Integrated browser: Open and prompt against local or live websites directly inside Cursor
  • Marketplace plugins: Hundreds of extensions available, including MCPs, skills, and subagents

The update builds on Composer 2, Cursor’s own coding model released in March, which handles fast local iteration after agent handoffs. The old IDE remains fully accessible alongside the new window.

Cursor’s previous built-in model briefly became a minor talking point when the community figured out it was Kimi K2.5. Cursor wasn’t hiding it, but it got enough attention to become a meme for a week or two.
